L’Épiphanie, Québec

Amélie Blanchard, grew up on her family farm and has always been in close contact with sheep and livestock for as long as she can remember. Over time, this passion for agriculture did not wane, and after graduating university as an agronomist, she officially joined her family farm and has been working towards building a strong and healthy flock of sheep ever since.
With a particular interest in genetics, Amélie breeds Rideau Arcott sheep, a breed that was created in Canada in the late 1980s. Ferme Agneaux des Champs’ main mission is to breed genetically sound animals that conform to the breed standard and are completely free of disease that could be sold to farmers who wish to have this breed in their flock. In other words, Amélie’s sheep are the cream of the crop.
We can recognize the Rideau Arcott sheep by their pointy ears that stick out horizontally, and their general lack of wool on their heads and faces (except the occasional little tuft on the top of their heads). This breed offers us a soft, lustrous, and bouncy wool that resists felting. Yarn made from Rideau Arcott wool is perfect for close to the skin garments (and the lofty sweater you have been dreaming of!)
